- Avoid cycling or excessive exercise for several hours. Ideally rest by sitting in a chair and use an extra pillow for the first night.
- Do not drink anything alcoholic or smoke for the first 24 h.
- Try not to disturb the socket with your tongue, by eating food on that side, or by vigorous rins This will delay the healing process.
- A small amount of bleeding is normal after an extraction.
- If excessive bleeding occurs roll up a clean cotton handkerchief (do not use paper tissues) and bite firmly down on it for 15 minutes whilst sitting upright. Contact us if the bleeding does not stop within 2 h.
- After 24 h. rinse your mouth gently with a warm salty water (level teaspoon of salt to a cup of water} and continue after meals and before bed for seven days.
- You may feel the sharp edge of a socket with your tongue and occasionally small fragments of bone may work their way out. This is normal.
- It is not unusual to experience swelling or discomfort for a few days. However, if pain, swelling or bleeding persists, contact us
- The numbness will last for 2-4 h. so take care not to bite your tongue, lip or cheek. Keep small children under observation until all the numbness has gone
- Make sure that you eat and drink, but something lukewarm and soft, avoid hard chewy food.
